The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

The Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund is looking for STEM-oriented, college-bound high school seniors with at least 50% Filipino ethnic heritage who are residents of Northern or Southern California. Individuals living in the Northern California counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus or Yolo, or the Southern California counties of Los Angeles, Orange or San Diego, are eligible. Applicants must be planning on studying engineering, mathematics, computer science, or environmental or physical science-related fields in college. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, meaning recipients could earn up to $20,000 in total.

Eligibility information

In addition to meeting the below eligibility criteria, applicants must be of at least 50% Filipino heritage and reside in select Northern or Southern California counties.
