The Girl Scout Gold Award is a prestigious honors granted to Girl Scouts who have completed two Senior or Ambassador Journeys, or have earned the Girl Scout Silver Award and completed one Senior or Ambassador Journey. These Journeys involve finding a local or global issue, researching it, and forming and carrying out a plan to tackle the issue with the help of a team. The Crutchfield-Healy Memorial Scholarship is a way to further recognize the accomplishments of a GSSN (Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada) Ambassador Girl Scout who has won the Gold Award. Established by Kathy Healy-Justice and named after her parents, the annual scholarship is open to graduating high school GSSN members who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award. Applicants must also have applied for or be enrolled in a four-year college or university. One recipient is chosen per year to receive $2,000 towards her post-secondary education. The George N. Boulukos EOCS Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are registered, active members of an EOCS (Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting)-recognized scouting program: Scouting America (Scouts BSA, Exploring, Venturing, Sea Scouts), Girl Scouts of the USA, Trail Life USA, American Heritage Girls, or Camp Fire. Applicants must also (1) have earned the Eagle Scout Award, the Gold Award, or the highest award of another EOCS-recognized scouting program, (2) be communicant members of an Eastern Orthodox Christian Church recognized by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the USA, and (3) have earned the EOCS Alpha Omega Religious Award. The American Legion Department of Tennessee is seeking the best and brightest Eagle Scouts for their Eagle Scout of The Year scholarship. Nominees must be active members of a Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Scout Team, or Venturing Crew Chartered to an American Legion Post, Auxiliary Unit or Sons of The American Legion Squadron. Alternatively, they can be the son, grandson or great-grandson of a Legionnaire or Auxiliary member in good standing. Applicants must be at least 15 years old to qualify. However, Eagle Scouts up to 18 years old still qualify as long as they're still enrolled in high school. Nomination forms are available to all American Legion Post Commanders, Adjutants, Sons, Auxiliary Department, and Eagle Scouts in December. The winner of The American Legion, Department of Tennessee Eagle Scout of The Year will receive a $3,000 scholarship and will compete for $10,000 at the American Legion National scholastic scholarships.
