The Women’s Fund of El Paso aims to directly impact the educational and leadership advancement of women in El Paso through the availability of scholarship funds. The funds will provide a supplemental scholarship of up to $2,500 to low- and moderate-income single mothers and other women who qualify so they may access higher education at a local educational institution or leadership training for career advancement. The Women’s Fund of El Paso also provides scholarships to women who qualify for assistance for childcare or adult care of the applicant’s request. All funds will be paid directly to the service provider in the name of the award recipient. Requests for tuition, books, and fees are welcomed. Scholarship Awards Priority: Awards for direct educational expenses (tuition, books, and fees), are paid directly to the educational institution or leadership seminar or conference provider. The James W. Lewis Global Leader Scholarship was established to encourage and recognize young leaders who exemplify the values to which Mr. Lewis has dedicated his life and work. Worth between $1,000 and $4,000, this scholarship is awarded annually to two or more students. To be eligible for this award, applicants must either have a spinal cord injury/spinal cord related disability or be the child of such an individual. Priority is given to individuals who have direct spinal cord injuries and diseases resulting in paralysis such as spinal tumors, spinal strokes, or aneurysms. Priority is also given to people living in Wisconsin, but scholarships may still be given out to individuals residing elsewhere in the United States depending on the funds available. All applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. To apply, students must submit a 200-word essay describing why they deserve to be awarded the scholarship.
