Lehigh University has a long-standing commitment to need-based financial aid and seeks to make a world-renowned education accessible for all admitted students. A Lehigh degree is the beginning of a successful career—salaries of Lehigh graduates have been highly ranked by Payscale for decades.
100% of undergraduate students from families with a total income of less than $75,000 are eligible for a full tuition grant (the family will pay no tuition) through the Lehigh Commitment.
30% of the admitted students for 2024-25 year received a merit scholarship of $15,000 or more per year.
Each year, we award $137M in grants and scholarships and over 50% of Lehigh students receive some form of financial aid.

Lehigh University Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid at Lehigh you’ll need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as the CSS Profile.
The FAFSA and CSS Profile use financial information from the prior, prior year. That means you can submit the forms even if you or your parents haven’t filed last year’s taxes.
The FAFSA code for Lehigh is 003289 and the CSS Profile Code is 2365.
The FAFSA is completely free, while the CSS Profile charges a fee for each college you send it to. If you have demonstrated financial need, you may qualify for a CSS Profile fee waiver.

Using State Grants at Lehigh
Pennsylvania residents considering Lehigh should be sure to look at Pennsylvania state grant programs. Two of the biggest educational grant programs in PA are PHEAA and TIP. PHEAA offers funding for Pennsylvania students who are enrolled at least half-time in an institution and program approved by PHEAA. Students must meet certain academic and financial criteria in order to qualify. TIP, also known as PA-TIP, offers funding to students pursuing a degree in a field that the state designates as high-demand. Here are those fields in 2024:

Lehigh meets 100% of admitted students’ financial need. Using the FAFSA and/or CSS Profile, they calculate your need and offer a combination of scholarships and federal loans to cover any costs you and your family cannot pay.
Pell Grants at Lehigh University
19% of students at Lehigh University receive Pell Grants.
The federal government awards Pell Grants to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need by filling out the FAFSA. Students with a bachelor’s or professional degree are not eligible. The Office of Admissions reviews applications holistically based upon the information we receive for each individual student. Each year we seek to enroll students who will thrive in Lehigh’s rigorous academic environment, and will contribute to our vibrant community in different ways. A diverse educational community benefits all, and so we value students who represent a variety of academic interests, different backgrounds, life experiences, perspectives and talents.
Our holistic review recognizes the individual’s characteristics and achievements—which can be found in the school transcript, recommendations, essays, extracurricular accomplishments, leadership experiences, and other factors which might be unique to the applicant. We also take into consideration the influence of the environments in which a student lives and learns has on the individual—noted in the school profile, student’s personal background and more.
Lehigh will extend the test optional policy for admission indefinitely while continuing to evaluate its impact.

Coalition Colleges
Lehigh is a Coalition Member College, which means they have completed a vigorous vetting process from the Coalition for College to ensure that they “provide substantial support to lower-income, under-resourced and/or first-generation students; offer responsible student financial aid; and demonstrate a commitment to student graduation.” That also means you can apply to Lehigh via the Coalition Application. The Coalition Application makes it easy to obtain application fee waivers if you qualify.
