Most states offer their own state-wide grants to help residents obtain an affordable education. Here are some of the most prominent state-wide grants in Ohio:

    Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

OCOG is a need-based grant for Ohio students with very high demonstrated need. Recipients can use the fund at Ohio institutions, whether they are public, private non-profit, or private for-profit. The amount varies depending on financial need, enrollment status, and the type of institution.

    Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program

Choose Ohio First is a program to incentivize Ohio students studying STEM to pursue their education in-state. Students can use the funds for both undergraduate and select graduate programs.

    Ohio Tuition Reciprocity Agreements

Although Ohio is not a member of any general tuition reciprocity agreement, many Ohio schools have struck up agreements with neighboring states. Check out Ohio’s official website for a list of all these schools and the corresponding states.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the hardest Ohio college to get into?

Denison was the Ohio college with the lowest acceptance rate in 2023, with a 28% acceptance rate. Even if the admission rate may seem intimidating, don’t let a low number deter you from applying. Remember, your application can always catch an admissions officer’s eye, and everyone should apply to at least a couple of reach schools!

Why should I study in Ohio?

Ohio is known as a hidden gem when it comes to higher education in the Midwest. The state is home to many renowned institutions, whether you’re looking at a public school like OSU or a liberal arts institution like Oberlin. Ohio also has several cities with large industries, which offer opportunities for internships and jobs for students. Finally, Ohio has a lower cost of living than many other states with strong educational institutions. So, students can receive a quality education without spending as much as they may elsewhere.
