    Affordability Overview

    From CC

Life is full of challenges. Navigating financial aid at Colorado College doesn’t need to be one of them.

Here are three things to know about our commitment to making CC affordable.

    1. We meet 100% of full demonstrated need.
Our goal is to make CC affordable to all admitted students who apply for assistance on time. We review every financial aid application individually.

    2. This is a partnership. We view financial aid as a collaborative effort between students, parents, and the College. Help us help you! We offer advice on budgeting, parent loans, and other financial options for all families, and welcome students and parents to schedule an appointment.

    3. Colorado College may be more affordable than you think.
Many families afford CC through a combination of grants, modest loans, student work, and family resources. We recommend beginning with our Net Price Calculator for a custom estimate of your potential costs and aid.

    Scholarships Overview

    From CC

Colorado College focuses much of its budget on meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need for admitted students. Therefore, we offer a limited number of merit scholarships. Every year, CC accepts academically accomplished applicants who encompass a wide variety of interests, talents and backgrounds. All students admitted to CC have demonstrated their academic excellence.

All merit scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admission. Because of limited funding for merit-based aid, very few admitted students are awarded these scholarships.

    Barnes Scholarships

Otis A. Barnes Scholarships in Chemistry and Biochemistry offers two full-tuition scholarships each year and one full-tuition Margaret T. Barnes Scholarship in Natural Sciences (including Molecular Biology, Organismal Biology & Ecology, Environmental Science, Geology, Physics, Psychology, Neuroscience) and Mathematics (including Computer Science) is awarded each year.

Talented and passionate students who want to to focus their studies in Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Physics, Psychology, or Neuroscience are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be United States citizens to be considered.

    El Pomar Scholarship

The El Pomar Scholarship was created to encourage talented and passionate students from Colorado to pursue careers in public policy and nonprofit work by covering the annual cost of tuition and fees, standard dorm room, and meal plan at Colorado College. Each year, two students are awarded this scholarship in order to experience an exceptional liberal arts education and gain valuable hands-on exposure to the nonprofit sector.

    Colorado Pledge

Beginning with the 2020 entering class, Colorado College made a historic pledge to address affordability concerns in higher education. In our commitment to making a Colorado College education more affordable to families from our home state with adjusted gross incomes below $250,000, our financial aid packages will no longer take into consideration the home equity on a family's primary residence. Colorado families with significant assets above what is typical for their income level may not qualify for the Colorado Pledge, but Colorado College is still committed to meeting 100% of demonstrated eligibility. A family's assets may include cash and savings, investments, other real estate the family does not live in as their primary home, and other assets. Every student in the entering cohort who demonstrates eligibility for their first year and subsequent years will receive this level of funding for all four years at Colorado College.

It’s also important to note that the cost of attendance can vary from year to year and typically it will rise over your four years in college. With that said, your financial aid will also be recalculated every year to take any price increases, as well as any changes in your financial situation, into account.

    Colorado College Financial Aid

Students who are applying for financial aid at Colorado College need to submit both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (or FAFSA), as well as the CSS Profile.

The FAFSA opens up on October 1st, and students should apply as soon as they can! The FAFSA uses financial information from the prior, prior year which means that you don’t need to wait for the year to end and can use last year’s financial information.

The FAFSA code for Colorado College is 001347 and the CSS Profile Code is 4072.

It should be noted that while the FAFSA is free, the CSS Profile does require an application fee. However, students can qualify for a CSS Profile application fee waiver if the cost will present a financial hardship for the students’ family.

If you are looking for more information on how to complete the FAFSA or the CSS Profile, check out these resources:
