The Women in Rural Electrification (WIRE) Scholarships are open to Kentucky college or university students with at least 60 credit hours under their belts by the fall term. Applicants’ immediate families must also be served by the Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative. Ideal applicants are academic achievers with a passion for extracurricular activities, clear career goals, and glowing recommendations from professors and community leaders. Financial need is also taken into account.

Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives, Inc. is an organization associated with the electric cooperatives in the state of Kentucky. Part of their mission is to contribute to the education of young people in co-op service territories, along with fostering friendships, encouraging understanding and the appreciation of electric co-ops in Kentucky.
