Offered by National Association of Letter Carriers
The William C. Doherty Scholarship Fund, in honor of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ president from 1941 to 1962, awards four (4) $5,000 scholarships to children of NALC members in good standing – active, retired, or deceased. Stepchildren and grandchildren may also be eligible if they live in a regular parent-child relationship with the letter carrier. Applicants must be high school seniors when completing their application and must submit the application form, signed by the NALC member and an officer of the member’s NALC branch. To apply, students must print and fill out the scholarship’s preliminary application form. They must also take the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) in either their junior or senior year. The scholarship is to be used toward pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college of the recipient’s choice.
If you’re the child of an NALC member and this sounds like a good opportunity for you, we encourage you to apply! Keep on reading to learn more.
