  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

Are you a West Virginia resident who is enrolled/will soon be enrolled at an institution of higher education in West Virginia or Pennsylvania as a full-time undergraduate student? If so, you may be eligible for the West Virginia Higher Education Grant Program! Each year, the scholarship is awarded to multiple such students who also demonstrate financial need. In order to apply, interested students must simply submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by April 15th. If you are selected for the grant, bear in mind that it may be renewed until your course of study is completed, but may not exceed an additional three academic years beyond the initial award. The Commission develops and oversees a public policy agenda for West Virginia’s four-year colleges and universities and is comprised of a 10-member board, working with institutions on accomplishing their missions and carrying out state procedures. The West Virginia Community and Technical College System, on the other hand, coordinates community and technical colleges statewide – partnering with businesses to meet workforce needs and ensuring a meaningful education for West Virginia students.
