The Tony Ferguson Memorial Scholarship is open to students from North and South Carolina who are enrolled in a post-secondary program with hands-on welding as part of the curriculum. The scholarship was established in honor of a man who dedicated his life to supporting and promoting welding within Fluor and the industry, which he did until the very last days of his life. To apply, applicants must submit two letters of recommendation and a transcript along with their application.

The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919, as a nonprofit organization with a global mission: Advancing the science, technology, and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying.
