Are you a current undergraduate or graduate student who is either enrolled or intends to enroll in an accredited college and major in the history of Alaska? If so, you may be eligible for the THS Patricia Roppel Memorial Scholarship! Each year, the scholarship awards $5,000 to one (1) eligible student who is pursuing Alaskan studies. Preference will be given to (1) those specializing in Southeast Alaska history or the history of mining, fisheries, or timber in Alaska and (2) to those with a GPA of 2.9 or higher, however, neither is required to apply. This scholarship was established in memory of Patricia “Pat” Roppel, an author, historian, and Alaskan, whose numerous published works about Southeastern Alaska spanned various topics ranging from business to salmon hatcheries in the area.
