The Urban Scholarships Fund annually awards between $350 a semester ($700/school year) and $1,000 a semester ($2,000/school year) to Texas residents who are enrolled in any accredited college or university in the United States for at least 12 units per semester. Applicants must have also graduated from one of 44 urban cities in Texas, which are listed on the official Urban Scholarships Fund webpage.

The Texas Association of Developing Colleges was incorporated in 1967 as a small private nonprofit corporation under the auspices of the United Board for College Development of the National Council of churches. The purpose of forming this consortium which consisted of six private historically black colleges in the state of Texas was to carry out a number of joint programs/efforts that would benefit the members collectively.
