The Alexander Foundation Scholarships were established to help LGBTQ+ students in Colorado overcome barriers they may face in pursuit of academic success. In addition to residing in Colorado, eligible students must attend a post-secondary institution in Colorado, and submit a personal essay “about their goals, how the scholarship will help them achieve their goals, their financial need, and their current or future plans for supporting the LGBTQ+ community.” Lastly, applicants must submit two signed letters of recommendation, including at least one academic reference on school letterhead.
Recipients may earn between $300 and $3,000 each scholarship cycle, but are limited to a cumulative maximum award limit of $9,000.
The Alexander Foundation, founded in 1981, is a public, non-profit 501(c)3, philanthropic organization. Through our Community, Catastrophic, and Holiday assistance programs, as well as educational scholarships, the foundation has created a tradition of caring for the LGBTQ+ community. For over 40 years, the foundation has provided millions dollars to those in need. Most importantly, such assistance has built a stronger LGBTQ+ community, and transformed thousands of lives throughout Colorado.
