The Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) is a program of state merit-based scholarships for Louisiana residents who attend either one of the Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, Louisiana Community and Technical College System schools, Louisiana-approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools, or institutions that are a part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, meet TOPS Louisiana residency requirements, complete all required units on the TOPS or TOPS Tech core curricula, and meet minimum core GPA and ACT composite score requirements (vary by award level). There are four types of TOPS scholarships available: the Opportunity Award, Performance Award, Honors Award, and Tech Award. As each has unique eligibility requirements, we recommend checking out the TOPS webpage to learn more. To apply, interested students must complete either the TOPS Online Application or the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by July 1st following the one-year anniversary of their high school graduation.
