Are you a college student interested in filmmaking? If so, consider applying for the Student Academy Awards! The competition is open to university students who submit film pieces that were made as part of coursework or a school project. Hosted by The Oscars or “The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science”, the program serves as an international student film competition. The Academy is known for awarding filmmakers for artistic and technical merit across the American and international film industries. Thus, in 1972, they established the “Student Academy Awards” to support and encourage aspiring young filmmakers.
Students may submit their films in one of four categories: narrative, documentary, animation, or alternative/experimental. Winning filmmakers in each category can earn up to $5,000. If you have a passion for filmmaking and would like to participate in a prestigious film competition, we encourage you to apply!
