The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months

Scholarship Overview

The Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members is an incredible opportunity for high school seniors who are or were Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA). To be eligible, candidates must have been a member of the ALA for the past three years and continue their membership during the scholarship period. Along with submitting two letters of recommendation, applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and meet entrance requirements at their chosen institution. This scholarship is for attending an accredited institution of higher education, so don’t miss out on this chance to help fund your education!

About American Legion Auxiliary National Headquarters

The American Legion Auxiliary has been serving, educating, and giving to America's military for over a century. They do this out of a dedication to patriotism and veterans' advocacy. The American Legion Auxiliary answers the call of "Service Not Self." The organization consists of the male and female spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion. Some members are veterans themselves.
