The Selby Scholarship is open to college-bound high school seniors from Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto county who are planning to attend an in-state four-year university. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and partake in a personal interview with community members. The unique benefits of the Selby Scholar Program include the Selby Scholar Match Mentoring Program, which pairs students with local community leaders working in their chosen fields and can lead to great mentorship experiences, as well as that the amount awarded each year can vary based on the student’s current financial need. Students are also eligible to renew the scholarship for up to three years so long as they maintain a 3.0 GPA. If you’re eligible, we encourage you to apply for this amazing opportunity! The William G. & Marie Selby Foundation was established by the Selbys to help local students with limited financial means pursue a higher education, with the goal of not only achieving a meaningful career, but also of helping their community. Today, “Selby Scholars” are undergraduate students with exceptional potential who embrace the Selbys’ values of leadership and service. These awards are renewable, with certain requirements, for the four years the student is enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university.
