Are you a member of AmeriCorps, have finished your term service, and are looking for a scholarship opportunity? If so, you might be interested in the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award! The program is open to AmeriCorps members who have completed an AmeriCorps service term within a 12-month period in either AmeriCorps NCCC, AmeriCorps State and National, or AmeriCorps VISTA. Applicants must also be enrolled in any higher education institution that participates in the Department of Education’s Title IV student aid program.
AmeriCorps is the national service program that offers the scholarship. The organization looks to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. Recipients can use the award to repay qualified student loans and current educational expenses at postsecondary institutions and training programs. The award amount is equivalent to the maximum value of the Pell Grant and is based on the term of service completed, meaning it may change year-to-year and will vary by person. If you are a member of AmeriCorps and have completed your term of service to pursue post-secondary education, we encourage you to apply!
The program is open to members of AmeriCorps who have completed an AmeriCorps term of service and enrolled in the National Service Trust. Applicants must also be currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution or other training program and meet the below eligibility requirements.
