The Robert Hunter Swadley Horticulture Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale who will be entering an accredited college or university located in the United States as a freshman with a major in horticulture. Applicants must be U.S. citizens residing in the state of California who submit a ~1,000-word essay about their career objectives, a transcript, and a document listing all their extracurricular activities and scholastic achievements. The scholarship shall cover full or partial tuition and full or partial funding for room and board, books and educational supplies for recipients. However, bear in mind that the actual amount of the scholarship will be determined each year based on the income generated by the principal of the fund. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Each year, DAR awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of higher education in diverse areas of study including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science, and English.
