Are you an undergraduate student in the U.S. with a love of history and writing? If so, consider applying for the Platt Family Essay Contest! Each year, the contest awards $1,500 to up to three applicants who submit an essay that best answers the given year’s prompt. The 2022 prompt is: “The year 2022 is the anniversary of the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial. How has the whole question of memorializing leading figures of the Civil War, including Lincoln, changed in the hundred years since then?” The contest is funded by the Lincoln Forum, a national, East Coast-based Lincoln organization that hosts an annual multi-day symposium featuring the finest scholars in the country.

Eligibility information
This scholarship is open to students who were enrolled as undergraduates for the Spring semester of their application year. Applicants must also meet the below eligibility requirements.
