The Paul and Patricia Whelan Scholarship honors the legacy of an exceptional aviation educator by providing opportunities for emerging aviation professionals to achieve their academic goals and contribute their talents to the industry. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in an aviation or space-related major at a University Aviation Association member institution, with a 2.5 overall GPA and 3.0 GPA in their Aviation major coursework. Demonstrating a passion for aviation, leadership, and extracurricular/community involvement is a must. Preference is given to those with FAA certification as a pilot or mechanic, former/current military service members (including ROTC), and those involved in an aviation-related association or professional group. Community college, college, and university applicants are also welcome to apply.

The University Aviation Association's mission is to promote and foster excellence in collegiate aviation education by providing a forum for students, faculty, staff, and practitioners to share ideas, to enhance the quality of education, and to develop stronger programs and curricula. The Association also influences aviation education policy at all governmental levels, and provides and nurtures the linkage between college aviation education, the aviation industry, and government agencies.
