The Orel and Marie Winjum Memorial Scholarship annually awards up to $2,000 to American citizens with Norwegian and/or German heritage who have applied to or enrolled in a four-year, post-secondary institution or a two-year community college with the intent of continuing toward an undergraduate degree in the US. The scholarship was established by Orel and Marie Winjum’s children, who all earned a college degree and believe in the importance of higher education.
