Offered by Contemporary Record Society
Music is an amazing way to express one’s creativity, allowing composers to use a range of different instruments, tools, and more to create original pieces of artwork. If you’re an aspiring composer looking for a chance to potentially get some recognition for your work, the National Competition for Composers’ Recordings may be a great opportunity for you!
Each year, the competition invites composers to submit original recordings created by a maximum of nine (9) performers. Eligible compositions must not exceed twenty-five (25) minutes in length and must be non-published and not commercially recorded in the U.S.A. prior to submission of the recording. Bear in mind that the annual competition is limited to the first 300 applicants, so we recommend applying as early as possible.
The first prize winner will have their composition included on a commercially distributed new compact disc also featuring compositions from other distinguished composers and performing artists. The second- and third-place winners, however, will be awarded an “Honorable Mention” and Honorary Life Membership to the Contemporary Record Society. If this sounds like a good opportunity for you, we encourage you to apply! Keep on reading to learn more.
