The NAJA-AAJA Pacific Islander Journalism Scholarship is open to currently enrolled Pacific Islander college upperclassmen and graduate students pursuing a journalism degree at an accredited university within the United States. The scholarship is intended to help Indigenous peoples of the Pacific, particularly Polynesians, Micronesians, and Melanesians, pursue careers in journalism, especially in the U.S. and U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands, in order to strengthen the journalistic skills of Pasifika to improve Oceania representation and storytelling in the news media industry.

The Native American Journalists Association (NAJA) serves and empowers Native journalists through programs and actions designed to enrich journalism and promote Native cultures. The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) is a membership nonprofit advancing diversity in newsrooms and ensuring fair and accurate coverage of communities of color.
