The Maryland Boys State Scholarship is an opportunity for current and rising male high school seniors to participate in the American Legion Boys State, which is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students. It is a participatory program where each participant becomes a part of the operation of his local, county, and state government. To qualify, applicants must provide three letters of recommendation and not have previously attended Boys State. About American Legion Department of Maryland
The American Legion Department of Maryland is a war-time veterans community-service organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. The Department thus provides aid to veterans and sponsors youth programs to maintain an ongoing concern, support and commitment to the veteran community. In addition, the American Legion is strongly committed to maintaining a strong national defense. Its Maryland Department now numbers nearly 52 thousand members, men and women, in 134 American Legion Posts throughout the state.
