The Maria and Paolo Alessio Southern Italy Scholarship will be granted to a student currently enrolled full-time at an accredited campus based college/university in the United States, pursuing a degree. In the event two equally qualified applicants are selected, the award will be evenly divided. The candidate must be a United States citizen of Southern Italian descent, having at least one parent originating from the region of: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Campania, Calabria, Latium, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, or Sicily. Documented and notarized proof may be requested, by the selection committee, if necessary. Open to candidates from all 50 states.
About UNICO Foundation Inc.
UNICO was founded on October 10, 1922 in Waterbury, Connecticut. Each year, UNICO Foundation and UNICO National Chapters donate approximately $1 million to various charities. Scholarships continue to be the primary focus, as roughly one-third of all monies raised goes to deserving students from chapter locations throughout the chain.
