The General Youth Scholarship offered by the Luso-American Education Foundation annually awards $1,000 to college-bound high school seniors who are either of Portuguese ancestry, are currently taking Portuguese language classes at the high school level, or have attended the Luso-American Education Foundation Cultural Youth Summer Camp for at least two years. To apply, students must submit a completed scholarship application, a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a wallet-sized photo of themselves, and a student/counselor report.

The Luso-American Education Foundation (LAEF) was formed in 1963 to foster, sponsor and perpetuate the Portuguese language and culture in the United States in part by providing scholarships and educational grants to students.
