The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

Are you a student enrolled in a DVM/VMD program with an interest in poultry medicine? If so, consider applying for the L. Dwight Schwartz Travel Scholarship! The L. Dwight Schwartz Travel Scholarship is open to students who are enrolled in a DVM/VMD program at an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine. Applicants must also have a demonstrated interest in poultry medicine through a project, work experience, previous courses, or interest in attending an AAAP meeting.

The scholarship is offered by the American Association of Avian Pathologists, an international association whose mission is to promote scientific knowledge to enhance the health, well–being, and productivity of poultry to provide safe and abundant food for the world. Each year, the scholarship awards up to $1,500 to one (1) lucky student to help pay for travel expenses to the American Association of Avian Pathologists Annual Meeting. If you’re a veterinary medicine student with a particular interest in poultry medicine, we encourage you to apply!

This scholarship is open to students enrolled in a DVM/VMD program in an AVMA-accredited college of veterinary medicine with a demonstrated interest in poultry medicine. Applicants must also meet the below eligibility requirements.
