The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

Are you a college student majoring in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field? If so, consider applying for the Jim Boyce Memorial Scholarship! The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the U.S. pursuing a degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or another program closely related to accessibility and universal design.

The program is offered by the Accessibility Professionals Association (APA), a nonprofit organization of professionals focusing on providing accessibility in the built environment. Their mission is to support members, promote the services provided, and participate in developing, interpreting, and encouraging the adoption of accessibility regulations. This scholarship of theirs honors the memory of Jim Boyce, a former APA member who made a “lasting impact in the field of accessibility compliance.” To honor his legacy, every year, multiple students working towards careers in accessibility are awarded a scholarship of $2,000. If you are a student passionate about your degree in architecture or a related field and are looking for a scholarship opportunity, we encourage you to apply!

This scholarship is open to post-secondary students enrolled in architecture, landscape architecture, civil engineering, construction management, interior design, or other degree programs closely related to accessibility/universal design at an accredited U.S. institution.
