Offered by American Legion Department of Maine
The James V. Day Scholarship’s objective is to assist young men and women in continuing their education beyond high school. Applicant’s parent or grandparent must be a member of the Maine American Legion, living or deceased. Be of good character and demonstrated through his/her past behavior that s/he believes in the American way of life. Additional requirements include three letters of recommendation, letter of endorsement from high school. Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

The Maine Department is a branch of the American Legion, a war veterans' organization dedicated to "enhanc[ing] the well-being of America's veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness."
