The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

Are you an aspiring Chef, Baker, Sommelier, Restauranter, Hospitality Manager, or Food Journalist looking to further your education? If so, you might be interested in applying for the James Beard Foundation Scholarships! The scholarships are open to culinary workers seeking an education at an accredited culinary school or program, hospitality institution, or university. The scholarships are offered by the James Beard Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to celebrate and support the people behind America’s food culture. Established in 1991, the program has not only grown in visibility and financial scope, but in the array of subjects its recipients have embraced. The Foundation’s scholarships award between $2,000 and $20,000 each. Altogether, these make up the roughly $475,000 being offered by the James Beard Foundation Scholarships this year. If you are passionate about receiving a culinary education, we encourage you to apply!

Eligibility information

The scholarships are open to aspiring and established culinary professionals looking to enroll at a culinary school, hospitality institution, or university. However, the specific eligibility requirements vary for each scholarship. In addition to those listed below, applicable interests include: Hospitality Management, Beverage Studies, Master Sommelier Programs, Food Journalism, & Culinary Science.
