Scholarship Overview

Are you passionate about clean drinking water and safe sanitation? If so, you should consider applying for the IWSH Essay Scholarship Contest! This scholarship is worth up to $2,000 and is open to high school seniors and students enrolled or accepted in an accredited technical school, community college, trade school, apprentice program, or four-year accredited college or university. International students are also eligible. To apply, students must submit an 800 – 1,600 word essay in response to the following prompt: “Why do you believe access to water and sanitation is a human right?” The purpose of this scholarship is to acquaint the uninitiated with the crucial importance the plumbing industry plays in our everyday lives and to introduce students to the global impact of IWSH projects. If you’re a high school senior or college student with a passion for clean water and sanitation, we encourage you to apply!

In addition to the below application materials, applicants must submit a copy of their current full-time schedule, school transcripts, or an acceptance letter with their submission. Students must also submit a letter of support from a teacher, counselor, or some other school representative. Please note that winners will also be asked to submit a current picture.
