Offered by American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology
Howard R. Raper graduated from the Indiana Dental College in 1906 before going on to serve as faculty at the college until 1917. He made a profound impact during his time there, serving as “the first educator to bring radiology into a dental school clinic for regular daily use, convincing his dean of the importance of x rays to the dental profession.” In honor of his contributions, the Howard R. Raper Award was established to support a student following in Howard’s footsteps.
To qualify for the award, individuals must be graduate students in the second or third year of an oral and maxillofacial radiology graduate or postgraduate educational program. They must also (1) be members of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology or should have applied for membership at the time of application and (2) intend to pursue a career in academia. To be considered for the scholarship, students must be nominated by their program director. They must also submit a completed online application, curriculum vitae, career plans, and a letter of reference from their OMFR residency Program Director. Selected recipients will be awarded $1,000 in addition to a certificate.
