  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)

  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months

Scholarship Overview

Are you a student teacher intending to teach in the Hawaii State Department of Education? Further, will you be enrolled in a State-Approved Teacher Education Program or in a Hawaii SATE alternative licensure program for the upcoming academic year? If so, the Hawaii Education Association’s Student Teacher Scholarship may be a great opportunity for you! Each year, they award $2,000 to two (2) student teachers aspiring to teach in the Hawaii State Depratment of Education who (a) will continue their enrollment in a State-Approved Teacher Education Program or in a Hawaii SATE alternative licensure program for the upcoming academic year. Scholarships are awarded to student teachers to minimize the need for employment during the student teaching semester.
