Are you a current or incoming college student who spent time in foster care in Iowa between the ages of 14-18 or have lived in special circumstances without the support of parents or close family during those years? If so, you may be eligible for the Guardian Scholars Foundation Scholarship! Each year, the scholarship provides up to $8,000 per year to multiple eligible students who are/will be enrolled full-time in their post-secondary program. Involvement in one or more extra-curricular sports or activities will be favorably considered. If you’re a former foster child or have lived without the support of parents/close family at some time during your childhood in Iowa, and will be enrolling full-time in a post-secondary program, we encourage you to apply! The Guardian Scholars Foundation works with the Department of Human Services to locate young adults who have spent time in the foster care system between the ages of 14-18 and wish to attend college full-time. The program helps to facilitate their dreams by working with the host college to create a support system of administration, professors, and financial aid associates ready to work with the academic inequality and financial instability that often accompany an individual from the foster system.
