The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

Are you an academically outstanding student who wants to have a career in teaching and research at the university level? If so, you may be eligible for the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship! The Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship is open to academically outstanding students who plan to or are enrolled in a research-based Ph.D. or Sc.D. program and plan to have a career in teaching and research at a university in the U.S.

The scholarship is offered by The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, a private, nonprofit institution that provides expert advice on some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation and world. They are dedicated to “sparking progress” and advancing science, engineering, and medicine for the benefit of society. Thus, the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship grants $9,000 awards to help future, university-level educators pay for the costs of their graduate studies. If you’re passionate about teaching and are looking for some help to pay off your graduate studies, we encourage you to apply!

Eligibility information

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must be an academically outstanding student who is or will be enrolled in a research-based Ph.D. or Sc.D. program. Applicants must also plan to teach at the university level and meet the below eligibility requirements. Lastly, bear in mind that applicants may not already have recieved a doctoral degree in any field.
