The Environmental Working Group – The Douglas Barton Memorial Scholarship is designed to actively promote the pursuit of and set forth a program for acknowledgment of candidates excelling in environmental control as it relates to pulp, paper, and allied industries. Selected recipients earn $2,500 each to support their pursuit of a post-secondary education. To apply, interested students must submit a completed application and, if required by the Committee after selection, must complete an interview with a member of the TAPPI Environmental Working Group Scholarship Committee.

The Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led association that is built around a community comprised of thousands of member engineers, managers, scientists, academics, suppliers and others from around the world. They provide premier educational resources to support the day-to-day duties of industry professionals, as well as research and academic pursuits. They provide up to $140,000 each year in awards and scholarships.
