Are you a service-oriented, Catholic high school senior actively involved with a Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scout Ship? Furthermore, have you been awarded for your involvement and do you plan on continuing your education in college? Consider applying for the Emmett J. Doerr Scholarship! Each year, this program awards multiple scouts up to $5,000 for their continued dedication to Catholicism, their scout programs, and education. To apply, you must submit an application, four letters of recommendation, a transcript, and a high-quality photo of yourself. If you’re passionate about your scout program and are looking for some help to pay off college, we encourage you to apply!
The National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) is an organization officially related to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). They serve as an advisory committee to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). NCCS provides guidance and structure for the integration of Catholic teaching into BSA programs at parishes and Catholic schools nationwide, recognizing that Catholic Scouting is a form of Youth Ministry. Guided by the USCCB’s Secretariat on the Laity and Family Life, they work closely with Catholic organizations, such as the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM), to provide faithful and useful Church-sanctioned programming and guidance to Catholic Scouting units.
This scholarship is open to Catholic high school seniors actively involved with a Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scout Ship. Applicants must also meet the below eligibility requirements.
