The Dr. Susie Beris Scholarship is open to college-bound high school seniors graduating from Pomperaug High or Nonnewaug High in Connecticut who have participated in at least three years of Cross Country and/or Track & Field. While Pomperaug students must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 4.0 or higher, Nonnewaug students must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 107 or higher. Integrity, community service, and financial need are also important factors when it comes to choosing winner(s).

The Connecticut Community Foundation, established in 1923, was created by and for the people of Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills. The Foundation works to address the community's critical issues, funds programs benefiting local residents, supports efforts to improve systems to foster more equitable outcomes for residents, strengthens local organizations through learning and outreach, and works with individuals, families and corporations to steward charitable and scholarship funds.
