The Dr. Michael Dorizas Memorial Scholarship, established to honor the late Dr. Michael Dorizas, a widely respected educator, lecturer, and athlete, annually offers $5,000 to current and incoming four-year students of Greek heritage. Those studying Greek Studies are also eligible, regardless of their heritage. All applicants must reside in one of a few select Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware counties (eligible counties can be found below, under “Eligibility Information”). The Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia's mission is both educational and social. They bring together Greek-Americans and others who wish to learn more about subjects and ideas rooted in Hellas/Greece and to celebrate 4,000 years of Greek culture. They strive to keep Greek culture thriving in the Greater Philadelphia region and to carry forward into the future their rich and ancient heritage.
In addition to meeting the below eligibility criteria, applicants must be of Greek descent (OR be majoring in Greek studies) and reside in one of a few select Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware counties. Eligible counties include: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton or Philadelphia County in Pennsylvania, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean or Salem Counties in New Jersey, or New Castle County in Delaware.
