The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

* There are certain exceptions to this, for example if the sponsoring organization is a major corporation or nonprofit with its own scholarship application system.

Scholarship Overview

The Dr. Michael Dorizas Memorial Scholarship, established to honor the late Dr. Michael Dorizas, a widely respected educator, lecturer, and athlete, annually offers $5,000 to current and incoming four-year students of Greek heritage. Those studying Greek Studies are also eligible, regardless of their heritage. All applicants must reside in one of a few select Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware counties (eligible counties can be found below, under “Eligibility Information”). About Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia

The Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia's mission is both educational and social. They bring together Greek-Americans and others who wish to learn more about subjects and ideas rooted in Hellas/Greece and to celebrate 4,000 years of Greek culture. They strive to keep Greek culture thriving in the Greater Philadelphia region and to carry forward into the future their rich and ancient heritage.

Eligibility information

In addition to meeting the below eligibility criteria, applicants must be of Greek descent (OR be majoring in Greek studies) and reside in one of a few select Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware counties. Eligible counties include: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton or Philadelphia County in Pennsylvania, Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean or Salem Counties in New Jersey, or New Castle County in Delaware.
