The Dolphin Scholarship Foundation is offering competitive grants to high school or college children/stepchildren and spouses of members or former members of the submarine force or those who have served in submarine support activities. With 124 ongoing scholarships, students can receive up to $4,000 per year to attend a four-year college, two-year college, or a trade/vocational program. Each year, 30-40 new scholarships are awarded to scholars who demonstrate academic proficiency and excellence in school and community activities. The Dolphin Scholarship Foundation was established in 1960 with the first scholarship of $350 awarded to John L. Haines, Jr. in June 1961. Since then, funds have been raised through the efforts of submarine officers' wives' organizations throughout the United States. The Dolphin Scholarship Foundation is proud to have awarded over $13,500,000 to more than 1,400 students attending universities and colleges through the United States.
