The Dependent Children Scholarship Program is exclusively designed for dependent children of Tennessee’s brave law enforcement officers, firemen, and emergency medical service technicians. If their heroic parents have tragically lost their lives or suffered permanent disabilities while dutifully serving, this scholarship is here to help. Open to full-time undergraduate students attending an eligible Tennessee postsecondary institution, this scholarship offers a chance to pursue one’s academic dreams without financial worries. Keep up the good work academically, and this scholarship can support you for up to four academic years. If you’re eligible, we encourage you to apply.
The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation, created by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1974 as a non-profit corporation with the merging of the Tennessee Educational Loan Corporation and the Tennessee Tuition Grant Program, administers over 20 different state student financial aid programs, including the HOPE scholarship, Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, Tennessee Student Assistance Award, and the Dual Enrollment grant. To increase awareness and participation in their financial aid programs, the agency conducts financial aid outreach and training to students and staff at every high school and postsecondary institution in Tennessee.

Applicants must be dependent children of a Tennessee law enforcement officer, fireman, or an emergency medical service technician who has been killed or totally and permanently disabled while performing duties within the scope of such employment.
In addition to the below application materials, applicants must submit documentation proving that their parent was a Tennessee law enforcement officer, fireman, or emergency medical service technician who was killed or left disabled during such employment.
