The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

* There are certain exceptions to this, for example if the sponsoring organization is a major corporation or nonprofit with its own scholarship application system.

Scholarship Overview

Are you an LGBTQ+ individual or ally from the Charlotte metro area who’s currently (or will soon be) attending college? Further, have you served the LGBTQ+ community either through community service or activism? If so, consider applying for the Charlotte Pride Scholarship Program! Each year, the scholarship provides up to $2,500 to multiple applicants who fit those criteria and demonstrate significant, unmet financial need. In order to apply, you must submit a 500 – 800 word essay (or original artwork), your SAT/ACT score, transcripts, former work/community service experiences, and any extracurricular activities. The scholarship is offered by Charlotte Pride, the leader in LGBTQ visibility in Charlotte and the Carolinas which hosts a variety of LGBTQ-related projects and activities.

Eligibility information

This scholarship is open to current or soon-to-be college students who are LGBTQ+ themselves or allies of the community. Applicants must be from one of the following counties: Mecklenburg, York, Union, Gaston, Cabarrus, Iredell, Rowan, Cleveland, Lancaster, Lincoln, Stanly, Chester, Catawba, Chesterfield, Alexander, or Anson. Lastly, you must have demonstrated service to the LGBTQ+ community and meet the below eligibility requirements in order to apply.
