The Carl Greenberg Scholarship is bestowed upon a college student who is passionate about investigative or political reporting and is either from or attending a post-secondary institution in Los Angeles, Orange, or Ventura County, California. Applicants must also have completed at least their freshman year of college and submit a 500-word essay, proof of enrollment/acceptance in a journalism program, a resume, journalism work samples, and a letter of recommendation from a professor or instructor to be considered for the scholarship. This $1,500 award was established in honor of Carl Greenberg, a renowned political reporter at the Los Angeles Times who was famously commended by Richard Nixon for his impartial coverage.
