The Benjamin F. Ward Scholarship is open to permanent residents of Durham, Orange, Wake, or Chatham Counties in North Carolina who plan to attend an in-state 4-year public or private college or university. The scholarship was established through a gift from the estate of Benjamin F. Ward in order to honor his life and commitment to education and community service. Thus, recipients will be selected based on their financial need and commitment to community service. The $2,500 scholarship may be renewed for up to three additional years, meaning recipients who maintain good academic standing can earn a total of $10,000 to help cover the costs of attendance over four years of college.
