The Ark-La-Tex Agricultural Council resulted from an intensive study completed in 1970 by local agricultural leaders. It was recommended that an agricultural-related council be formed and presented to the Board of Directors of the State Fair of Louisiana. This group was to consist of prominent and influential citizens who expressed an interest in the development and growth of agriculture throughout the area. The group of interested and dedicated citizens began work, and plans for their organization of the Agricultural Council began to take shape. They are dedicated to stimulating, promoting and encouraging the business of producing, handling, and marketing agricultural products, including livestock and the products of livestock.
