The American Legion is offering the Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship to exceptional young individuals who have demonstrated practical citizenship in their community, school, and church. To be eligible, applicants must be registered active members of a Boy Scouts of America unit and have received the Eagle Scout Award, as well as a Scouts BSA or Venturer Religious Emblem. Nominees must also either (a) have a parent or grandparent who is a member of The American Legion or Sons of The American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary OR (b) be in a BSA unit that is chartered to an American Legion post, American Legion Auxiliary unit, or Sons of The American Legion squadron.
If you meet these requirements and are enrolled in high school, we encourage you to apply! Bear in mind that the nomination window is from November 1st to March 1st of each year. Contact your department headquarters for more information.

The American Legion is a war-time veterans community-service organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. The Department thus provides aid to veterans and sponsors youth programs to maintain an ongoing concern, support and commitment to the veteran community. In addition, the American Legion is strongly committed to maintaining a strong national defense.
In addition to meeting the below eligibility criteria, applicants must have (1) received the Eagle Scout Award and (2) received a Scouts BSA or Venturer Religious Emblem.
