The American Legion Department of Tennessee is seeking the best and brightest Eagle Scouts for their Eagle Scout of The Year scholarship. Nominees must be active members of a Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Scout Team, or Venturing Crew Chartered to an American Legion Post, Auxiliary Unit or Sons of The American Legion Squadron. Alternatively, they can be the son, grandson or great-grandson of a Legionnaire or Auxiliary member in good standing. Even if you’re still in high school and have reached your 18th birthday, you’re still eligible if you meet the other requirements. Nomination forms are available to all American Legion Post Commanders, Adjutants, Sons, Auxiliary Department and Eagle Scouts in December. The winner of The American Legion, Department of Tennessee Eagle Scout of The Year will receive a $3,000 scholarship and will compete for $10,000 at the American Legion National scholastic scholarships.
The American Legion Department of Tennessee is a war-time veterans community-service organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. The Department thus provides aid to veterans and sponsors youth programs to maintain an ongoing concern, support and commitment to the veteran community. In addition, the American Legion is strongly committed to maintaining a strong national defense.
