Are you (1) the descendant of a veteran and (2) a non-traditional student who is returning to the classroom after some period of time in which their education was interrupted? This includes students who are any of the following: (1) a student returning to school after an interruption for the first time, (2) a student over the age of twenty-two attending college for the first time pursuing a degree, (3) or a student over the age of twenty-two attending a vocational or trade school. If you fit into any of those categories, and are the descendant of a veteran, the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Michigan Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students may be a great opportunity for you! Each year, the scholarship awards $500 to the top applicant. The scholarship may be renewed for one additional year, allowing recipients to earn up to $1,000 towards their college education.

This scholarship is open to students meeting the below eligibility criteria.
High School Seniors, College & Graduate Students
Low Income, Relative of Current or Former Military Member
Applicants must be one of the following: (a) a student returning to school after an interruption for the first time, (b) a student over the age of twenty-two attending college for the first time pursuing a degree, or (c) a student over the age of twenty-two attending a vocational or trade school.
In addition to the below application materials, interested students must submit a copy of the veteran's discharge papers.
