The American Legion Auxiliary Department of California Past Presidents’ Parley Nursing Scholarship annually awards $4,000 to a California resident and nursing school student who is a veteran, a veteran’s spouse, a veteran’s widow/widower, or the child of a veteran who served in either of the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada/Lebanon, Panama, and/or the Persian Gulf. To be eligible, applicants must be planning to enter or be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school for the purpose of earning a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse, or other recognized nursing degree. The award can be renewed so long as the recipient continues to meet the requirements and submits a new application annually. The American Legion Department of California is a war-time veterans community-service organization dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. The Department thus provides aid to veterans and sponsors youth programs to maintain an ongoing concern, support and commitment to the veteran community. In addition, the American Legion is strongly committed to maintaining a strong national defense.
